In Cardiology Academy, Dr. Peter Sloane starts with a brief review of the epidemiology of cardiac disease followed by an in-depth review of normal cardiac anatomy, cardiac pathophysiology, EKG interpretation and basic electrophysiology. Dr. Bohner ends the session with a review of the office management of HTN. Dr. David Weisman follows with an introduction to bedside point-of-care echocardiography followed by discussions on infective endocarditis, valvular, pericardial and congenital heart disease by Dr. Ahmad Amin. Dr. Sloane continues with an overview of pulmonary HTN and ICU cardiology.
Dr. Nimesh Shah completes Cardiology Academy with a discussion of cardiac surgery and advanced cardiac support. This course provides the student with a broad knowledge of underlying pathophysiology of the cardiac patient and the tools to assess and manage this challenging population. We invite students who enroll in our 16-hour Cardiology Academy Course to enjoy free access to additional online content on cardiac catheterization and non-invasive imaging (Session 5) and chronic CHF, cardiomyopathies, and myocarditis (Session 7) to be presented by Dr. Ahmad Amin that will go live later in 2025. Students completing the additional 4-hours later this year will be eligible for an additional 4-hours of CME credit (beyond the 16 hours of credit currently available in Cardiology Academy).
